NA – Not Applicable: The topic/area/skill has not been taught. The particular topic/area/skill will be taught at a later date and will be assessed only after being taught.

Regarding “Resolves conflicts appropriately”, NA: The child has not been involved in any conflict and, therefore, has not exhibited any conflict resolution skills.

NYO – Not Yet Observed: The ability to carry out a particular skill or demonstrate a type of behaviour has not yet been observed by the staff.

IS – Improvement Seen:  The staff has noted that your child has improved in his/her ability to carry out a particular skill that was taught.  However, the child has not made enough improvement to be marked at the next level.

E – Emerging: The skills taught and or behaviours desired/taught have just begun to show themselves.

NMP – Needs More Practice: The skill and or behaviour desired/taught has shown itself, is being observed more often but, continues to need practice for it to be mastered.

O – Often Observed: The skill and or behaviour being observed is displayed and observed often.  However, the skill needs practice for it to be mastered.

M – Mastering:  The skill and or behaviour is displayed all or most of the time and all or most of the time is done so correctly.
