A preschool like no other!

KHRYSTAL

We happened upon Jean Baptiste St Augustine Pre-School in 2012. We were first time parents and wanted the best for our daughter. Fast forward to 2021, here we are again with our third child about to be enrolled at this school, a place I fondly refer to as a happy home.

The Aunties there hold morals and values you want instilled in your children.

They have huge hearts and are open and honest with both you and your children. They are firm believers in Learning through Play and we can testify that this approach is by far the best and it works.

The best part is, even when your children move after their two years at this institution, the bond is one that lasts a lifetime.

The love there is enormous and never fades. We are happy to say we are, and forever will be part of the Jean-Baptiste St Augustine Preschool family! ❤️

When something has a lasting effect on your life it is never forgotten. The first day that I entered the little office of Jean-Baptiste St. Augustine Pre School and Activity Centre, my thinking changed. Looking from the outside at what seemed like a small structure was in fact an institution of grand dreams, hopes, dedication and commitment. It is no ordinary obligatory place of learning.

At the first parent interview, I was asked, “so what are your expectations for your daughter?” and simply put…I had none. My daughter is a special child who has Downs Syndrome, and I was just incredibly happy to have her accepted into a “normal” environment. That answer was frowned upon by two of the most straightforward, dedicated and well experienced teachers that I had encountered in a long time….and that was the start of a beautiful experience for not only my daughter, but for us as a family.

From the morning welcome, hot lunch, swimming, gymnastics, individual learning resources at hand, oh….and the concerts!!! Everything that can be celebrated will be celebrated….Sports day, Christmas carols, Christmas concerts at Queen’s Hall! Heritage Day, Carnival, Divali, World Down Syndrome Day – Lots of socks, and the list goes on…all done with full throttle….what incredible incidental learning, but for my Annah, participation and learning without books!!!!

Jean Baptiste is a special group of people who have created an environment that is loving and learning, with open communication and finely tuned people skills to anticipate all needs. The natural enthusiasm and genuine concern for the children, the interactions with the parents, taking the time to know and discover their strengths and supporting their weakness. Annah was allowed to blossom in her own way….no limits in her world….they dreamed big for Annah….and encouraged us to do the same. My hesitancy was always based on special needs….special education, we got a “special education” alright, through the encouragement, support, and love of Jean Baptiste St. Augustine Preschool and Activity Centre staff.

This is great opportunity to shower blessings on the people who have dedicated their lives to this institution. May you always remain driven to give our little ones the absolute best start in the understanding of life.

MIRIAM

My son attended JBSAPAC. The aunties were able to install such confidence in my son, through all that we were going through in our personal lives (my husband was battling a terminal illness). Through it all the love, the attention and care that we received from the staff is unmatched.

I am a primary school teacher and the foundation that the children receive at JBSAPAC is remarkable. They are exposed to all aspects of learning: literacy, science, math, culture, to name a few, all through play and discovery.

Even though only my last child attended JBSAPAC, the entire family felt as it was OUR school, as they include families at all events. I wish I could have kept my son at JBSAPAC until he was ready for University! I love all the Aunties and staff there and I could never recommend another pre-school after my family’s experience. Thank you to ALL the aunties for the beautiful, strong foundation that you have given my son. We will forever be indebted to you!

2021 ALUMNI “ELENA’S” EXPERIENCE

“When you asked me what I did in school today and I said, “I just played.” Please don’t misunderstand me. For you see, I am learning as I play. I am learning to enjoy and be successful in my work. Today I am a child and my work is play.”

Anita Wadley, 1974

  • An environment emphasizing his or her unique learning styles, talents and strengths.
  • An environment that helps him or her to develop a sense of right and wrong;
  • An environment that exposes him or her to the cultural uniqueness of his or her own community as well as that of other communities.
